Prague, 25. June 2015 – Petr Pilát became the European Champion in Freestyle motocross riding on Mitas C-23 (front) and Mitas C-20 (rear) tyres. Pert Pilát won the title in the last race which took place in Hamburg, Germany on 13 and 14 June. Petr Pilát returned to the European Championship NIGHT of the JUMPs after recovering from an injury. Presenting a new trick helped him secure the title. Mitas has been sponsoring Petr Pilát for 12 years now.
“When Petr Pilát won his first race in the European Championship in Freestyle motocross in January 2015, we hoped to see him on the podium after the last race of the season as well. He managed to win the title despite his injury and this deserves our respect,” stated Tomáš Jurtík, Mitas market manager for the Czech Republic.
“The beginning of this year was really successful. I was able to win races or place second or third. Then I got injured but fortunately I missed only one race, so I still had a chance to win the Championship. The race in Hamburg was my first after returning from the injury and I also managed to win the title thanks to the new trick I was able to present,” said Petr Pilát, describing his successful season.
On his motorcycle Petr Pilát uses Mitas type C-23 (front) and C-20 (rear) tyres. These tyres are designed for motocross and extreme enduro and have optimal stiffness and a higher sidewall which prevents the tyre’s contact with the rim when landing. Petr Pilát took an active role in the development of the Mitas C-23 front tyre.
